Landmine survivor Louth Theom, 52, lost his right leg when he stepped on a landmine in Feb. 1994 while serving in the military near the Cambodia and Thailand border. Before he stepped on a landmine, Theom’s career goal was to become a high ranking soldier so he could help people, like digging canals for farmers. Now he works various jobs, earning about $10 a day to provide for his 10-person household: manual labor for people, collecting trash to recycle or sell and working on his farm. “We live a very sad life. I am very boring because of the accident.” ©2017 Daniel Carde
